When you walk in this place, the first thing that goes
through your mind is the theme song from "Sanford and
Son". It's a mess. But Bill runs a thoroughly
professional shop. He's been in business a quarter century
and was first recommended to me by a service manager at a
local new car dealer.
If you need a transmission or motor or engine work, Mobile
Trends is a great place--especially on an older vehicle
where the worth of the car is less than the cost of the
engine or transmission work that it needs.
Bill just put a used transmission (inspected and tested and
with a 90 day warranty) in my Mother-in-Law's car (I paid
for it). It's a '97 Escort with 135,000 miles and she can't
afford to replace. To make matters worse it had been
driven for over a year with 2 to 3 quarts of extra oil in
the engine so all the seals had to be replaced plus plugs,
pvc, etc.
The total bill was $1800, including the tune-up and a front
brake job (they only had 10% wear left). These guys are
good, professional and personable. Even if you walk in and
start doing the harmonica riff from Sanford and Son.
Call 'em Car Guys! This is your kind of place.
