First of all, let me say that this posting is way past due. As a long time listener of Click and Clack, I have thought frequently about doing this, but never took the time. Well now I am happy to finally say that I AM A PROUD CUSTOMER OF TOYOTECH, and have been for many years now. (Phew…feels like I've taken a weight off of my shoulders.) I frequently recommend them to any Toyota or Lexus owner that I cross paths with if I hear they need work done on their car. I first got to know Toyotech (before they were called Toyotech) when I didn't have enough respect for my car to keep up regular maintenance. I have had all kinds of major repairs handled by them…transmission work, CV boots and axle replacement, radiators and motor mounts, …you name it. They are always straight shooters, and never recommend more than needs to be done. I always feel I get good value for my dollar, and the work is always impeccable. They once walked me through a repair I could do on my own, and saved me more money there. Since learning the lesson that preventative maintenance is better than fixing something left unchecked that eventually breaks (expensively), I regularly bring my car in every 15,000 miles or so. They keep great files, and have even saved me from doing the same maintenance twice, before it needed to be done again. I recently panicked when a "30 Minute Lube" place told me I was way past due on some 90,000-mile maintenance, and I called Toyotech right away. I got a call back minutes later saying, "Hey, we already took care of 'A' 15,000 miles ago when we had 'B' out". They could have done the work again for a couple hundred bucks and I never would have been the wiser, but they actually have scruples. If I am ever on the road and need to get some emergency car work done, I always call Toyotech, and they will give me a second opinion over the phone. If I can get my car to them, I will. As a driver who loves my car, I can honestly say that Toyotech gives as much love as I do to my baby, and keeps her on the road. I have taken two cars past the 230,000-mile mark with them, and Toyotech kept them running like new. I even sold one car at 230,000 miles to a friend, and he drove the thing another two years! Many, many kudos to Toyotech. Go there, and you will not be disappointed. They are more than mechanics to me…they are like an extended family, and guardians of my car. Thank you, Toyotech! The waiting room is a little uncomfortable, their hours open are not that convinient (I think) but I'm sure they would be willing to work something out as they are really nice gentlemen.

I discovered them by chance when my new (used) car seemed ready to expire on the return of a trip from my home in Los Angeles to Phoenix on the Sun. after Thanksgiving about 10 years ago. I had stopped at 3-4 places, including Firestone in Palm Springs and was assured it was 3-4 (different) drastic things, all unfixable until Monday. I got as far as Ontario, when it died. I stayed overnight in a motel and found T. in the phonebook next morning. I recited all the diagnoses. The owner, said-- "oh, no, it sounds like just the distributor cap. It was: cost about $35. I now make the trip to Montclair when anything is wrong, since I know nothing about cars and they are absolutely honest and wildly competent.
