When I went in I was pretty sure what the problem was. They gave me an estimate right then (if it was what I thought). Sure enough they fixed it quickly, and were right on with their estimate.

I have owned Volvos, starting with a 144 through a 960 since 1989. When I moved to Los Angeles in 1990, Los Angeles Magazine listed Victoria Motors as one of the best shops in the city. They were right. I have been doing business with Victoria since 1990, first with Sten and then with Lars after Sten died and Lars, who was Sten's chief mechanic, took over. Victoria is a great shop. Not necessarily the cleanest or the prettiest, but Lars knows Volvos inside out. Lars always explains the problems, gives you alternatives, gives you a good price, and, on the very rare occasion that the repair did not turn out right, does it again for free. Lars rebuilt a blown engine in a 960 for me and did a great job, both with the initial work and the inevitable follow-up on rebuilds. I still drive all the way from Pasadena to have Lars work on my Volvo. I highly recommend Victoria.

This is the best repair shop I've ever dealt with. Extremely professional, competent and honest. If there's a quick fix, or no repair is necessary, they'll always let you know. I wouldn't take a Volvo/Saab vehicle anywhere else.

Great Saab mechanics. Lars has taken over the business since Sten passed away last spring, two of the best Swedish mechanics I've seen. Honest, likable guys with a small shop and a passion for these cars. They'll tell you what's wrong with your car and let you make the decision about spending the money. $69/hour which isn't bad compared to the dealer. They were never too busy to fit me into their schedule. I was able to show up in the morning and have an oil change/filter in less than an hour, enough time to have breakfast and still make it to work on time. There's a bus stop at the corner (for those brave enough to take L.A. public transport). If you're on the west side I haven't found a better place.

If you own a VOLVO, there is no better place to take your car. My wife and I recently moved from Santa Monica, CA to Ann Arbor, Mi. Almost sadder than leaving the ocean was leaving the WORLD'S GREATEST MECHANICS. Victoria Motors, under the leadership of Sten, worked on my 240 for over 8 years. Sadly, Sten passed away a few years ago. Lars, his top mechanic, took over the business from Sten while Sten was still ill. They have the most greatful customers you will meet. I met a customer at the shop who brought Lars a giant gift basket filled with treats. She told them that she had just bought a new Toyota and was sad that she no longer owned a Volvo for them to work on. The gift was for all their honesty and fantastic maintenance over the life of her Volvo. Simply the best. Don't trust your Volvo to anyone else.
