I used to do a lot of repairs myself. I hate to pay to have someone screw something up when I can do that myself for a lot less money. As cars have become more complex (and I have gotten older) I find that I would rather pay. A bonus is that they usually don't screw things up. On the one occasion that they made an error on an air conditioning repair, they replaced the part that they had failed to catch in their diagnosis at no charge for the part or labor. Also on another occasion when they couldn't do anything to improve the situation, their was no charge even though they had spent a fair amount of time on the vehicle. I get a good feeling that I am treated fairly and they have good records on all my vehicles so that there is a history of whats been done and what needs to be done.

Found Mr. Shew on this site and went to him because of previous comments. There were all true. Such a friendly person. Can't beat his price and he took the time to show me what he did. (I have to idea about cars so I just agreed). I highly recommend him to anyone with a Honda.

This a small shop in a small auto repair mall type location. Don't let the surroundings put you off. Mr. Shiu is the owner, and he doesn't do much of the actual work. His two employees are great. Mr. Shieu, not much of a marketer, has been in business for a long time and sometimes will lend you his car while he works on yours. I took my '90 Honda there 4 years. In Jan of '99 I took my new '99 Honda to him for an oil change. While the car was on the lift Tony pointed out the transmission was leaking. The saga of getting the dealer to make it right and replace the torque convertor is another tale; but, you can be sure the dealer never would have volunteered this.

I have taken my 1989 Honda Accord to this shop for several repairs and have been very impressed with the service everytime. The owner is a Honda expert...before I bought my used car I took it to him and he carefully (free of charge) looked it over and basically predicted what would happen to it mechanically. He was right. Everytime I need a bigger repair I shop around for price. His are always the lowest or very competitive. I like that he will show you exactly what he did and will keep explaining until you understand. He has never made me feel pressure to get a repair; he's just been very honest. He always offers you a soda while you wait and once gave me some change so I could call him to check on my car while

Mr. Shiu is reliable, honest and does good work. He'll go out of his way to get me a good deal on parts. He even loans me a car when he's working on mine. He's not condescending like many mechanics and really takes the time to explain and show me what's wrong with my car. I found him on this site years ago and I haven't been disappointed yet ... and I don't expect to be.

I have been taking my '97 Honda Civic DX to Mr Shu since I found his shop on this website back in 2000 when I moved to LA. He is awesome! I tested him when I first brought him my care by telling him my AC was not as cold as it used to be and he said, in his Taiwanese accent "It still get cold?" I said "Yes". He said "Then you no need fix!". He always saves the parts that he replaced so he can show what was wrong with the part and he loaned me his car twice when the repairs took all day. His prices are very inexpensive and he always fixes the problem but he won't try to up sell you a part or repair you don't need. If you pay cash, he knocks a little off the price. Oil changes are $20 if you pay cash and if you get there at 8am it takes 15 minutes. I highly recommend S&S Auto Repair.
