I have been taking my cars to Volz Bros. for 20 yrs. and never had any problems with their repairs. They are very honest and thorough in their work. The owner Bill is very friendly and will explain every repair to you before it is done. If they find anything else wrong they will notify you right away.

They have a local reputation of taking the time to explain patiently to non-mechanical customers - including, but not limited to, many female car owners - their auto's condition, problems, etc. Also, there have been a few times in which I have expressed concern about a symptom I'd noticed with my cars (87 Honda Prelude, 88 Landcruiser), which they examined & offered a diagnosis of a minor problem that they recommended not being concerned about, most recently being reluctant to fix an irritating rattling under the hood which they said was only a noisy air intake valve, & not worth the expense to fix if I could tolerate the sound. My most recent visit for a LOB for my 225,000+ miles Prelude prompted the head mechanic to warn me that I was due for a timing belt in about 5000 miles, and a major service a little before that. The reminder was partly in response to my musing about 8 months earlier that I was thinking of getting another car. Bill gave me the warning that I'd soon be facing a $700 - $800 service bill with the belt & tuneup & if I was still thinking of trading the old car in, this was a good time for it. They've kept my cars healthy for the past 8 years & though I moved from Grass Valley to Sacramento (over an hour away) two years ago, I still trust my car to no one else but these guys!

Top notch folks. Honest, competent, personable. Not excessively cheap, but I'm willing to pay a bit for folks I feel so comfortable with. They are state-of-the-art recyclers.

Well, I am a car lover, as are most who take the time to post here, and I find Bill Greenman's Volz Bros Automotive the best shop out of several excellent shops I've had a chance to work with around the west. I find Volz's expertise is with Subaru, Toyota, and Honda. However, their "par" skills on other makes far exceed your average shop. Bill runs a top notch shop- expertly trained mechanics, latest technology for diagnostics and repair, almost always if not always highly efficient, practical (probably the most underrated aspect of a top rate craftsman - Ockham's Razor for cars), and quality parts. I am a male with 3 sisters and like it or not, your avg mechanic treats your avg female differently. I'd send any female (yes, even mom) to Volz without hesitation.

Their reputation in the community was great in every respect, so when I moved there & my Subaru needed service I gave them a try. I've never, ever regretted it. I can't say enough about this shop: they're honest & fair, never condescending (a HUGE plus when you're a woman!), do the work as quickly (and inexpensively) as possible, anmd in general do everything they can to make the unpleasant task of taking your car in for service a more pleasant one. They also offer fleet pricing on new Subarus, Toyotas, and Hondas.

- Check engine light came on at 130000 miles so I took it to this local shop for repair and general service. -In at 7 a.m. -Callback by 9 a.m. with diagnosed problems -Finished by 3 p.m. with a free tire rotation!! Volz Brothers came highly recommended by friends and neighbors and they did not disappoint. I will be returning for future vehicle service.

John Volz and Bill Greenman are kind, informative and dedicated to watching out for their customers' wallets and safety. If they spot a needed repair they will discuss strategy with the customer about how to schedule the repair in the most affordable manner (e.g., is it safe to wait until the next minor or major service). They also work hard to make their shop as "green" as possible and they generously support many local nonprofits and schools.
