Since I try to be a shade-tree mechanic, I don't use professionals all that often (now if only there were more shade trees around here). High Sierra was recommended by the first two coworkers that I asked. The first time I took my car there, they were able to quickly diagnose fix it for about 20% less than the estimate. We have also gone there for a few other minor things that I can't do at home. The only down side that I've come across is that they don't do anything with tires.

One of the only mechanics in town who can tell you Why a vehicle likely failed its emission test. Makes it much easier to decide whether to fix yourself, have them fix it or to get rid of the clunker. They gladly recommend other shops and businesses in town for work or parts they do not perform, and get recommended frequently in return. They are extremely busy at certain times of the year, I think, due to the quality of work and their honesty.

Good group to work with. I have no problem trusting them with my car and problems. I know it will be done honestly, competently and fast.
