John Fletcher, owner/operator of Fletcher's Automotive, is absolutely top-notch! My husband and I have dealt with him for 35+ years. For much of that time, he operated a Union 76 gas station, with the garage on the side; a few years ago he quit pumping gas, moved 5 miles away -- and his hoards of loyal customers followed! He has kept our series of older cars (including, at one time, a Mercury Zephyr:)) in top condition. His shop has also kept several friends' much newer cars in great shape. John has assembled a responsive, knowledgeable, courteous staff. They deal with customers with expertise and courtesy. I trust John implicitly with our automobiles, and have yet to be disappointed. He has always been willing to listen and straighten things out if needed. He does not overpromise; and his estimates are accurate. Over the years, he has built relationships with trustworthy shops in the area that specialize in certain work, e.g., body or transmissions. John and his staff will take the extra time to explain (for the third time or more!) how something works and why certain work needs or does not need to be done. He focuses on customer service, including a drive to and from the shop as needed -- a VERY big plus in suburban Sacramento. His shop is always busy: trucks, custom cars, boats, and autos of all makes crowd the lot. He is the only mechanic I have ever recommended. Even my father (an excellent shade-tree mechanic) says, "You're lucky to have John, you can trust him." That says it all!

They don't offer a loaner but they will give me a ride home and pick me up when the repair is done. My car was stolen 3 times and each time it was found, they put it back together. Thanks! Kathy Phillips

Fletcher's completed the work and was very honest. They could have charged me 10 times more than they did. However, the service tech advised it against it. That certainly was not what I have experienced in the past. They were quick and responsive to questions. I will be returning to this shop for all future repairs. My family will be recommending Fletchers to anyone we know needing repairs. Just a side note. I asked for a recommendation for an auto body shop. They referred me to Rodmanns. Rodmann's spoke very highly of Fletchers, their customer service and honesty.

After getting a quote for about $625 to address purported problems with my 2000 Ford Ranger from a local Ford dealership will shall remain nameless (or not: it was Folsom Lake Ford), I took the truck to Fletcher's. They determined that a number of the "needed" repairs recommended by the Ford dealer were total bunk, and promptly quoted me a price less than a third of the amount quoted by the dealership. The problems with the vehicle were addressed in a timely and extremely competent manner for a very reasonable price. Bottom line - Fletcher's is far and away the best repair facility I have dealt with in over 25 years and 15 cars!! I recommend them without any reservations whatsoever.

All the comments so far posted echo the experience I have had with Fletcher's. Fletcher's was recommended to me by the local smog certificate shop, Tailpipes, which is also extraordinarily honest. The best story I have from Fletcher's, involves my latest older model car, in a long line of them, a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder. One day,the Pathfinder started slipping into 4WD on the flat streets of Sacramento. John Fletcher, owner, knows I am wealth-challenged. So instead of just taking the car in, he looked at it while I was there, called over one of his mechanics with 4WD experience, and conferred. It sounded expensive. Then John talked to me. He told me I could hold the 4WD stick forward while driving and it would stay in 2WD. We discussed the difficulty of doing so and he suggested rigging up a bungie cord to hold it forward. Before I tried the bungie cord option, I drove around for 2 days, holding the stick forward as possible. It worked. Then, on the 3rd day, I started driving in this way, and I noticed the car didn't slip into 4WD when I had to let the stick go to shift, eat, change the radio etc. Since then, the problem has been fixed. This is Fletcher magic and at no cost to me. I can't recommend Fletcher's enough. It is what I imagine a neighborhood garage was back in the kinder, more gentle days. There's a positive, can-do atmosphere, so friendly and honest. People seem to stop by just to say hello. Some hang out for awhile, like Jack, who took me home once when no one else could 'til later. That's the kind of place Fletcher's is.
