I brought in my 16 year old son's 1977 Dodge Tradewind van, which was difficult to start, resulting in school tardiness and having to borrow my car. I had to call AAA to get the damned thing to start so I could drive it to Jeff Wilson's shop. I left it with Jeff and his crew and they diagnosed it as the carburator needed rebuilding. It did take them about 4 days to get it done, primarily due to parts shops not having the necessary parts or delaying deliveries. Jeff and his crew go the carburator cleaned, overhauled and the engine running smoothly. Jeff was helpful in explaining what happened with my son at my side. He also put in a gas cap for free and advised us that the front end will need work at the tune of $1000. The carb work cost $360, which I assume is reassonable. He also said to change the oil every 3000 miles and get a tune up every 30,000 miles, which I thought was a bit much, but it's my son's car. I was talking with Kevin, one of Jeff's crew, and the whole shop was delighted to see my son Julian having such an old car to start with since it didn't need computers and other sophisticated parts. Of course, Julian was angry because it took so long and it appeared to him that the mechanics were jsut sitting around doping nothing. I don't think he knows what service he is getting. The mechanics, in my opinion, just love working on a car without computer scopes, etc. They left me off at home and appear to have a consistent clientele. Jeff said they were in business for 23 years. They work on all kinds of cars. As your mechanics list for Dodges did not include anything close to my home, it was a relief to know that their was a place. They were recommended by Cricket at Houble Honda, which is on your list and I also concur is a good place to take a Honda. Thank you, guys, for offering this service for us mechanically challenged.
