I realize that all those 5s are hard to believe, but they're true. It started as a Volkwagen specialty shop years ago, but they do mostly Japanese cars now. They sold us a 1986 Dodge Colt (actually a Mitsubishi, of course) in 1989,after we had already been customers (a VW Karmann-Ghia) for nearly ten years. The Colt turned out to have a damaged engine, which they could not have known in advance. At no cost to us and without complaint--indeed, without our even having to ask--they rebuilt the entire engine, and we're still happily driving the car. The owners are John Hafez and Jeff Grande. Since I bought a 20-year-old Chevy in 1951, these are the first mechanics whom I would trust absolutely. They don't lie, they don't pad, and if they don't know they say so. I am astonished that they aren't on your list--they should be at its top.

They are friendly, competent and honest. They not only do the work, but tell you what you need to know about the work that they did and the reasons that they did it.

They're honest, friendly, and always take the time to explain why and what needs fixing, if anything. During a messy missed recall for on a head gasket / hassle with Subaru, they not only advised us how to handle the dealer, but they drove our car over to the dealer and spoke on our behalf to get the work done at minimal cost. Also when we first bought our Subaru for them and it turned out the catalytic converter was shot. They quickly had it repaired, without a hassle or any cost. Class Act ! Oh, and they like cookies...I mean they DID go the extra mile(s)...
