After being gouged by Toyota dealers, ripped off fly-by- nighters, it was a real pleasure to meet Peter. He is extremely intelligent, speaks to you with humor, and with noe of the condecension I've usually encountered from mechanics. I brought him a 1985 Toyota Camry for a 60,000 mile maintenance check and break repair.I'd couldn't estimates from about 7 mechanics before I went. Peter went through the list of what the high end mechanics were estimating and made it very clear what was and what was not needed. I cannot recommend him highly enough. His work was great. He also managed to fix a problem this car has had intermittently since I first owned it - a tendency to lose power on highway inclines and in a few instances conk out altogether. It involved cleaning the leads on the air filter plug. He didn't even charge me for that one!

I've been taking my 1990 Toyota Corolla to Peter since 1998
when I moved to Berkeley and was referred to him by a
friend. I'm over 220K miles on the car and he has kept it
working great over the years. He is about 7 or 8 blocks
from North Berkeley BART and I think there are bus lines
nearby. He has a helper in the shop now so that allows him
to keep up with the load. What I like is he will talk to
you about your car and what he needs to do to it. If it's
not an urgent fix he'll explain that you could put it off
for a while. If it is important he tells you that it should
be done right away. I hope he sticks around and doesn't
retire anytime soon!

I got the problem fixed on my 1991 Toyota MR-2 for $95
w/Peter when the dealership estimated the cost to be $700!
I just wanted a simple patch up on the slip cover, not a
complete rehaul. Bottomline: would I recommend Peter to
everyone...I have....would I come back again, without a
doubt.

I'm not sure I want to enter this, because I'm afraid he'll
get too busy. I rather have Peter all for myself. But I
need him only 2-3 times a year, so there. I usually buy
used cars with more than 75,000 miles, but only those Peter
can work on.

I have had really good experiences since V, originally
Peter's assistant, took over the shop.

We drive the car over from Alameda just to have Vee do the
work. They are really good, really fast and very reliable.
