Nancy knows what she's doing - period. She's an excellent mechanic. She loves her work and her enthusiasm is both obvious and infectious. She is VERY thorough in her diagnositic work. She runs a one-person shop so she will not try to do every type of job that comes in. If she encounters a situation that she feels can be best handled by another shop she will say so. And you can trust her recommendations. She will only refer you to places that are reliable and trustworthy. She's knowledgeable, reliable and honest. I entrust to her the care and maintenance of both my '87 Honda Prelude and my wife's '90 Volvo 760 Stationwagon. You got a problem with your car or it needs some work done? Do yourself a favor - take it to Nancy. You'll be glad you did. And she also happens to be a very nice person. So REALLY do yourself a favor and take your car to her . . . .

Nancy is great; brutally honest, more than competent, and charges a fair price. She takes time to explain problems and has never made any mistakes. The only down side is that she's so great, it can be hard to get an appointment.

I didn't deal with Nancy the owner, but instead Phoebe took care of my car. She obviously took a very personal interest in the quality of her work and in my concerns. I get the impression that this is a very straightforward, honest operation that doesn't overbook itself and wants to offer quality service as opposed to buying a new and better boat.

Since I recently moved into the area, I checked the Car Talk website first. Grandma's received a couple of good reviews elsewhere, too. Nancy asked me to bring in my repair records and then made recommendations on maintenance--all of which made sense. I was very pleased with how well they answer questions and their price was reasonable this first time.

The owner and mechanics are women. They are VERY knowledgeable and readily share their knowledge, including how all the parts work together. Their efforts are toward safety and prevention so they like to fix potential problems before they escalate. I trust them implicitly, and at the same time, they encourage me to make my own decisions.

I brought in my camry for a tuneup. When I picked it up she said that the tuneup was not done because it was not needed. Instead, the $380 cost was for coolant change and the "mechanic to go through the car completely." I decided this was not a person to do business with. Had gone into the glove box to get all previous receipts..."to get history of repairs." Bulloney. They were gathering pricing info. Creepy. Coolant she added was green and Toyota requires red/pink. Head gasket blows and we have a discussion of green vs red since she didn't tell me that change was made. She told me her research showed that red wasn't needed, and green was more economical. To her maybe but not me. I had to buy a major repair bacause of her self-serving chemical research. This is a crook and a dangerous mechanic! Go elsewhere...lots of other choices.
