I’ve been working at Car Talk long enough to earn many nicknames. Some I found entertaining. Some were downright annoying! But the one that really stuck, Frau Blücher, was given to me by Tom. You never knew what he was thinking or what he was going to do next, but man, one thing was sure: he was always funny.
Tom’s love of joking and connecting with folks didn’t stop when he was off the air. When my first son Henry was born and diagnosed with cancer, one of Henry’s first visitors in the hospital was Tom. Yup, you could hear his crazy laugh echoing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit!
That’s how Tom’s bond with Henry all started...
Through all of Henry’s chemotherapy treatments, Tom and Ray were there to support us. Whether it was delivering a meal from their favorite Chinese restaurant or just making us laugh, they always knew how to lift our spirits.
Henry is 10, now-- and he’s doing great! And through the years, he always had his crazy uncles Tom and Ray by his side.
Now, we hope you’ll be there too.
This weekend, my husband Josh Fenollosa will ride in the Pan Mass Challenge, a 200-mile bike ride across our fair state of Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research and treatment. Every dollar raised goes directly to fight cancer.
We hope you’ll join all of us at Car Talk Plaza, and make a donation to the Pan Mass Challenge. Your tax-deductible gift makes sure that more kids like Henry grow up to laugh and to see life the Car Talk way!
Here’s how you can contribute to the Pan Mass Challenge.
Henry is living proof that your donation saves lives!
Thank you for your time, consideration and support.
Catherine “Frau Blücher” Fenollosa
