I've had quite a few problems with my 99 VW Passat. I have taken it to every one of the local VW dealerships at one time or another over the years. I found all of them to have some or all of the following attributes: dishonest, overpriced, rarely completed work on time, rarely had parts in stock, frequently suggested unneeded repairs, did not take the time to explain the work that was done, did not respond well to mistakes on their part, did not complete repairs properly the first time, often asked me to bring the car back again, rarely were able to fit me into their schedule in less than 5 days. I tried an independent mechanic in Scottsdale that I found on the cartalk site, but although he was more honest, he talked more than he fixed. At one point I needed to have the brakes done, and I decided it was time to try someone else, so I got estimates from several mechanics in Scottsdale. Airpark Auto was the only one that quickly came up with an estimate without waffling and giving me a bunch of disclaimers. I gave them a shot, and they did the work quickly, and charged me the quoted price. Since then my car has been true to its VW ancestry, with many things continuing to go wrong. But, I am now at 135K, and I am very satisfied with the many repairs Airpark has made. (And I do not believe they have contributed to the car's problems, which is more than I can see for my previous independent mechanic.) One other good quality they have which there was not a place for in your list: They almost always have been able to work my car in on the same day I call, or the next day. At first this alarmed me, because I thought perhaps they had no business. But I think the fact that they tend to get the work done quickly (and correctly the first time) allows them to be pretty efficient.

These guys really know their stuff!, we have two cars, A 2000 Toyota Camry and a 1996 Mercedes E320. Scottsdale Airpark Autocare has accurately and explained problems to us. Their quotes have been very detailed and very fair for parts and labor. More importantly they are always looking for the most cost effective solutions for their customers. After being taking advantage of by another local shop, It is a breath of fresh air to conduct business with a company that shares in my values of providing good service at a fair price. I highly recommend Scottsdale Airpark Autocare. -Steven Benjamin.

Wonderful people to work with. Have recommended to all of my friends. They remember their customers and they bend over backwards to do a good job the first time. Oh and the owner is involved in numerous charitable endeavors and she and the shop have won many awards for their work in the realm of ethical business practices and humanitarian projects.
