Paul and Gary faxed me an estimate based on some maintenance I knew I needed (timing belt, other belts, new plugs, trans flush, cooling flush, fuel filter, etc.) A competitor said I needed additional repairs (motor mount, power steering pump, plug wires). Paul and Gary looked the car over and said I did not need a motor mount or plug wires and the power steering pump was barely leaking and should simply be monitored until it gets worse. However they recommended installing a new water pump since it would be much cheaper to do it when all the belts were already off instead of later. Since the water pump was original and the car had 83K it was logical advice. They were true to their estimate and all parts are original mfg. They are also ASE certified mechanics and were happy to point out the work that was done, show me the used parts, and explain some additional under the hood questions. All my future car service will be done by them.

I have been taking my car to Gaylord, Paul and Gary for seven years and in all that time, have not one single complaint. I recommend them to friends and coworkers all the time, and even carry their business cards to pass along. The service is vastly superior to anywhere else. My car is generally worked on by Gaylord or by Paul's son Jesse, so there is always someone familiar with the vehicle inspecting its innards. They have saved me buckets of money -- a mechanic elsewhere recommended $400 in repairs, but Paul and Gary recommended lesser fixes that cost $40. I cannot sing their praises highly enough; I greatly appreciate all of their hard work.

I got these guys from a recommendation after my previous garage came under new management and I felt like they started ripping me off. The guys at Crutcher have been unfailingly honest and, to my knowledge, have never recommended repairs which weren't needed. They give accurate estimates, will call you if they feel the original estimate is going to change in the wrong direction ( for which they typically have a good reason ), and guarantee their work. I too, like one of the previous reviewers, was recommended to have additionial work done while they had the car apart for other problems. In my case, my water pump was bad and they recommended changing the timing belt as well, since I was within 7000 miles of needing it done as normal maintenance. They saved me several hundred dollars by doing that. Always prompt, courteous and easy to work with, they are what you look for in an automotive shop.

I was told at another shop that I'd need the rear main seal replaced and the oil pan seal. My car is near 100K miles so I thought "yeah, could be." I took it to Crutcher's for a second opinion as they had good feedback on this website. Boy, am I glad I did. They looked at it and told me that whoever changed the oil last did a poor job - the reason my car is leaking oil is that the oil filter is about to fall off! No seals needed replacing... nothing. I really, really appreciate their honesty. I've since had them replace the fan unit and they did a great job at a fair price. They told me I need a new serpentine belt and I said I'd be back in when I had the money - they said it could wait, "get yourself some new tires before you get the belt". Again, I really appreciat that kind of honesty.
