Having a history of taking my Jetta to a regional auto repair chain for tune ups & oil changes, I continually was receiving a phone call informing me of "additional" problems discovered! The last time, I was told I needed $1,200 for a problem relating to 2 wheels! I called Montz, described the problem, and was quoted $700! I then took my car in to them, without informing them of what I had been told by the other repair chain, or the phone call I had made to Montz the previous day. You can imagine my surprise when I learned the repair amounted to an adjustment cost $50! From that point on, they had my business!

I found Mont'z through the CarTalk mechanics list. It was one of six listings that I followed up on. The letters of recommendation from their customers convinced me to give them a try. I paid them a preliminary visit and was impressed enough with how they treated me to give them my business. That was a few weeks ago & today I took the car in. What a relief. They are terrific. My 2002 VW Turbo is my third most prized possession (after my wife and 2 cats) and they really took care of it. I'd had terrible experiences with the two major VW dealerships in this area. The guys at Mont'z are race car mechanics. They understand the essence of VWs. They explained and showed me everything the dealership mechanics had done (and not done). They even allowed me to watch while they serviced & did diagnostic work on my car. This is the very best experience I've ever had in getting my car serviced. It may be a small shop, but they are very big on customer satisfaction and deliver great service at a fair price. As Billy Joel said, "Honesty's hardly ever heard," but that's what you'll get from the guys at Mont'z in Phoenix.

The 80K checkup plus the replacement of two headlights for my wife's 2001 VW Jetta was $200-$300 cheaper than the price quoted at two VW dealerships. Plus, my wife likes the way they explained to her about the work performed on the car.

Over fifteen years ago I had trouble with the local VW dealership damaging the hood of my car(closing the hood with tools or toolbox on the engine) and refusing to take responsability. Then, when the heater core went out on my Passat, NOT ONE independent shop would do the work. We found Montz in the yellow pages and have been going there ever since. They have not only worked on our VWs but also Toyotas, Mercedes and Volvos. I continue to find the VW dealership untrustworthy. Although they will often pay for me to have a loaner and offer waiting room amenities like coffee, a lounge with TV, etc.....I would rather have the peace of mind of going to an honest shop like Montz where the people who work there demonstrate integrity and value their customers' business.

I'm so upset I just found these guys right before I moved out of state!! They did an actual repair and a pre-cross country drive check up for me. The repair was nothing short of miraculous -- in less than 2 hours, they CORRECTLY diagnosed and repaired an electrical problem that two different dealerships who had my car for extended periods (one for over a week) were unable to even pinpoint. Even though they don't sell tires, they strongly urged me to get new tires before making the trip, which turned out to be great advice. I learned more than I ever knew existed about oil, and had a great time just chatting about VW's in general. The owner even offered to interview potential mechanics in my new home state for me by telephone. These guys are passionate in a great way.

Nobody could ever say enough good things abot the guys at montz. They have a passion for cars only surpassed by their honesty and knowledge of how things work. I have sent many people to them and never had anything but pleasant experiences. They are always willing to show you exactly what the problem is, how they will fix it and give you options, even giving you places to call and shop around for used parts. The bill is always disturbingly low, and they frequently fix little problems for free. When I bought my used VW from a dealer, montz even spent time (several times) diagnosing problems and then explaining what I had to tell the reluctant dealer to fix under warranty. At montz you always feel a part of the family. They treat males and females with the utmost respect. Bringing your car to montz to get it fixed always lets you feel good(if that's possible) about getting your car fixed, you know it will be done right by someone who really cares, and you know you will be charged a fair price. I know people who have brought Nissan's and Toyaotas as well who have recieved the same treatment as VW drivers. This place is great

They not only saved me $610 but they explained everything thoroughly. They even fix a piece on my grill that was coming loose without my asking AND for no charge. They also gave me heads up on problems that I may have in the future and their costs while stating to me that they were not necessary at the time but to keep an eye for certain signs. So far I would highly recommend them and they have earned my future business. Thank you guys! -DJ-

I agree with all of the comments about Mont'z. I have a used Jetta that began to flash the check engine light so I rushed it into a dealer. They came back to me several days later with a list of problems and a price tag of $1900. I read all of the comments about Mont'z so I had it towed there. They fixed the problem for $335. They said that one more repair could be done down the road (it's weeks before Christmas and this honesty could not be more appreciated right the moment) and had it ready right away. They also put a turn signal bulb in for no charge. I can't recommend them enough and plan to hand their business card to all of my friends!
