Anytime I have gone to Clairmont Auto Service I feel that I've been treated honestly. Bobby won't do work unless it needs to be done. I had a problem with my Honda's electrical system, Bobby could have charged me $300, but instead he found out that the part had been recalled and set up an appointment with the Honda dealer to replace it for free. I left my car at the dealer's, they called me up and told me I had some blown seals, was leaking oil and needed a timing belt and water pump change - all in all about $800 - $1000 worth of work. I put the Honda guys on hold, called up Bobby because I had just got the timing belt replaced by him a month earlier. Bobby had me bring the car in for an inspection to see what the problems were and insisted that the last time he had looked at it, my car was fine. The Honda guys were pretty upset and said I should get the work done at that very moment and they pressed me kind of hard like they were doing me a favor to get to it right then. Long story short, I didn't need any of that stuff done! They were just trying to recoup their losses on the recall. That was 2 years ago! I haven't leaked or burned any oil since then and my timing belt and water pump are fine! I trust Bobby with my car and so do a lot of other folks who live on Southside and Forest Park.

The biggest thing about Bob is that he is totally totally honest...he's not going to charge you for unnecessary repairs and he's not going to take advantage of your ignorance. Basically, he gives the impression that he cares about you, your car, and your safety, qualities you can't always find in a mechanic. Recommended.

Extremely honest; timely repairs; comes in at or below estimate; treats female customers the same as male. Everyone in my family goes to see Bob, including a relative who now lives in Decatur (75 miles north of Bham.) Bob is a rare find, indeed.

I've always found these guys to be honest, fairly priced, and happy to explain the problem in as much detail as I wanted.

I have an eleven-year old Pontiac Grand Am that I'm trying to keep until it actually falls apart. Being a Pontiac, I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet, mostly in part to these guys. They work quickly, are no-nonsense kind of guys, and are cheaper than taking it to a dealership (which is what I was doing before.) The shop may not be much to look at, but they do great work, and do it right the FIRST TIME (which I can't say for some other places I've taken my car to in Birmingham.)
