Danny is very honest, which I feel is one of the most important characteristics a mechanic can have. He is very competent. He specializes in Honda, but I take my Nissan to him and have been very pleased. Also, He is a nice person.

Danny always looks for the most cost-effective solution for the customer, even if it means he doesn't make as much. In fact, he's done several small jobs for free, including fixing a window that wouldn't roll up and putting in a free can of freon (yes, the old and expensive kind, too!) My Civic Si has 85,000 miles on it, and with Danny's help, it's running as well as a new one. If you want your Honda looked at in Birmingham, give Danny a call at Import Maintenance.

I had been postponing the big timing belt replacement on my Honda, but finally decided to get it done. I found the recommendation on this website for Danny Tsimpides and deicided to try his shop. What I liked was actually talking to the person who was going to work on the car, being shown what was wrong with my car, and having things clearly explained. I have never spent so much money on car repairs and felt so good about it. The car sounds great now. I don't know if Danny Tsimpides is the best Honda mechanic in town, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is....and I am sure he is the nicest to deal with.

For the past several years Danny kept my 10+ year old Honda
Accord rolling along. When it finally reached the point
where I needed a new car, one of the reasons I chose
another Honda is so I don't have to find a new mechanic.
Even though the dealer will extend the warranty if I get
all the service from the dealer, I will instead go back to
Danny. Having a mechanic you trust and like and can call
on the phone to ask questions (even about the new car
you're buying) is great!

Danny Tsimpides is the gold standard for mechanics, as far
as I'm concerned. He kept my 1993 Honda Accord EX in
excellent running condition for several years and always
treated me with respect, good humor and honesty. Women, in
particular, should feel comfortable bringing their cars to
Danny. He explains problems and solutions very clearly --
even takes the time to show you what's going on under the
hood -- and never talks down to you. He really knows
Hondas and handles other foreign cars, too. I can't say
enough good things about him. He's a great mechanic and a
great guy.

Danny always did a good job for me on my Acura when I lived
in Birmingham. I even sent my mother to him when she came
down to visit. I don't live there anymore, but I highly
recommend him. About the only things I can say bad about
his shop are that he doesn't always have the specialized
equipment newer cars are requiring and that his shop is
strictly for those who expect to drop off their car and not
wait around for it to be finished, even though he's usually
pretty prompt, since there's no place to do so except at a
local restaurant or the like.
He often went a little bit extra for me and didn't always
charge, or charge very much, for something that was bit more
than minor. His shop is pretty much a one man show and
working on Hondas and other Japanese cars is very much a
"feast and famine" proposition that probably wouldn't be
possible for him without the generosity of his church
leasing him his facilities, so I wanted to add my feelings
to help him out with a recommendation from a satisfied customer.

First mechanic I've ever had that I trust completely...other
than my Dad.
Danny Tsimpides owns and operates his business
single-handedly, as far as I know. He is personable and
reliable, prompt with calls to let us know what needs to be
done and clear with his cost estimates, which he has always
honored. I always come away feeling repair costs are
reasonable and fair. If he is backed up on work he lets us
know up front, but has never kept us waiting for more than a
day or two. Once a repair is begun, it is always completed
in very reasonable time.
Despite his quick work, Danny never fails to take time to
explain thoroughly what he's done, point out things we
should watch for, and let us know matter-of-factually if
there are repairs he anticipates might be down the road -
without big-shop fear tactics or pressure to lay out money
for a 'pre-emptive strike.'
I have recommended Danny to friends and relatives, and those
who have used him seem equally pleased. I hope Danny stays
in business for as long as I own cars!
