I had a crisis with an auto shop I took my car to. Their estimate for the initial problem, a freeze plug replacement, was expensive plus they claimed my head gasket needed replacement along with a long list of pricey and seemingly unecessary services such as "Mill Cylinder Head" and 90.00 to "Check for Cracks" all for a grand total of 1700.00. On top of it all, when my wife and I said we wanted to take our car to another shop for a second opinion we discovered to our horror that our car had been cleaned out when we went to pick it up. The CD changer system, XM satellite radio system, amongst other things were all stolen, there was no sign of forced entry what-so-ever. In order to remove these items lots of tools and lots of time would be required. Car shop "A" claimed no responsibilty what so-ever and was extremely reluctant to do anything about it, (Owner was spoken to, Police report was filed, Complaint was filed to the Better Business Bureu, litigation is pending). The guys at Badger Auto (The shop we had our car towed to for a second opinion) in Milwaukee were more than willing to check out our car thoroughly and get back to us with an estimate. Head gasket is fine, freeze plug was ordered, other problems attended to. When there was a mix up with parts. Badger Auto took complete responsibilty and knocked down the price from 250.00 to 175.00 for parts and labor and threw in a free oil change for causing such an inconvenience. In light of all that happened they were sympathetic and supplied excellent service.
