Colonial Motors has been in buisiness since 1969. Colonial spesializes in imports. when visiting you will see some japanese autos, but the shop ,which is very large-many bays,is usually filled with porsches, jags, ferrari's, triumphs, mg's, audi's, volvo's, saab's, volkswagens, mercedes-benz, BMW's, etc. Colonial is also a very large and highly regarded full service machine shop. Stoping in is like going to a car show. The owner Dave is a true gentleman. my mechanic, JOHN BUSSEL ,the main reason i am repyling to you,has been in the buisiness for 40 some years and is absolutly 1 in a billion. JOHN somehow always makes time to take a phone call. crawl out from under something he is in the middle of, or in countless ways go out of his way to help you out. JOHN is an absolute genius mechanic, and a heck of a great person. I have recomended JOHN'S service to a number of people and it seems they all want to be my best friend or tell my they owe me BIG time and usagelly come through. If your import needs help you now know where to go!

I have been very impressed with all of the service i have had done @ colonial over the years. The staff is very helpful and very good @ what they do. in comment to the person that wrote the preceding review ,while correct about John (the import specialist), and Dave the owner. Evidently he/she isn't aware that Colonial does a great deal of work on all domestics and service fleet vehicles as well. They also specialize in old tractors. I had one restored by Carl the tractor specialist. Colonial is also ,as far as I know, is the largest machine shop in EauClaire. No offense meant to preceding reviewer.

Colonial worked on my Toyota since I learned to drive. They also serviced all of my family's (read: parent's) cars which varied from a Triumph TR4, Toyota supra, Avalon, mustang, subaru Legacy, two minivans, a jeep, and a taurus station wagon over a two decade time span. All repairs were done quickly and professionally. Everyone in the shop is extremely knowlegeable and approachable. And when all is said and done they take the time to explain the repairs and show you what your old parts were and where the problem was with them. I remember one time a plastic tarp blew off a semi infront of my and got sucked under my car and wrapped itself around my drivetrain. I stopped in they jacked it up and cut it off for me right away for no charge, I was in and out in 5 minutes. This is the Best shop in town.
