These guys run a small shop (1 bay), but were all previously Subaru mechanics at various local dealers before setting up their own shop. They're not the closest shop to Seattle, but I trust these guys to do the work right and appreciate the fact that they take the time to talk with you about what you want done, and what you might want done, and why. They're not cheap, but they are cheaper than the dealer! Check out their website at www.smartservice4u.com.

The owner Mike Corbin, has worked on my 1996 Legacy several times. Including a 60 and 120,000 tune up. When he said I had a 'weak'alternator & that he could repair it w/ the tune up I agreed, but he called me back a little while later and said that since there was a recall I could get it fixed free at a dealer!!! Saved me $200! He also put a new PCV valve on free when his parts order was late arriving and he had to ask me to come back. I am a woman, but the guys that work there take time and explain WHY I should or shouldn't do something. I have never had to have anything 're-repaired' and I think that SmartService has probably saved me hundreds of $$$. I won't go anywhere else! (PS they have a website: www.smartservice4u.com)

I will always buy a Subaru now since I found Smart Service a couple of years ago. I thought my car was just getting old (and it is) because nothing my previous mechanic did ($$$$) got it running well. Now it runs like new. If you have a competent and honest mechanic, you will save money. If you have an ailing Subaru, take it to these guys. If you have a healthy Subaru, take it to these guys. I go out of my way to take my car there, even for oil changes. FYI, there's a McDonalds next door and a bus stop very close. I notice that a couple of ratings are low. Someone must have made a mistake.

I scraped my passenger side rearview mirror off my Subaru. I called Smart Service, they ordered a new one, and when they got it in I took the day off to get it fixed. I got there early and they took a look at it and found out that they had been shipped the wrong mirror. They called around and found another one and asked if I could wait while they got someone to bring it out. I had a made a dentist appointment for later in the morning and told them I could only give them about another hour. They told me that if they couldn't get it in time, I could give them a key and they would come out to the Park and Ride lot (where I usually parked my car to catch my bus into the city) and fix it there. They felt bad that I'd blown a day off over a screw-up like that. How many shops would offer to do that? Fortunately the mirror made it in time.

We will need a van for our next car, and our only hesitation is that we won't be able to take it to Smart Service since Subaru doesn't make a van.

I brought a used Subaru to their shop for an independent mechanics inspection. They stopped halfway through because they realized the cost of repair was more than the car was worth. They charged me half the cost of a full inspection. And in a courteous manner, they explained exactly what was wrong with the car and what it would take to repair it. I was impressed by their honesty and by the way they treated me as a customer--with decency and respect.

Smart Service is spectacular! These guys live and breath Subaru. They love working on high mileage cars and will share your goal to keep your Subaru's odometer ticking away. I took my 95 Impreza in for service at 187K. They performed all of the required services and gave me a plan for what to expect as far as future service goes (I bought this car 10 years ago and still have the orignal clutch, axels etc.). I did have to bring the car back when I discovered the highest fan setting wasn't working after the initial service. These wonderful people reconnected a ground that had disconnected, didn't charge me and paid for my rental car to boot! You can't beat this kind of service! Visit their website www.smart-service.com

These are very competent, conscientious and courtious mechanics. They re-checked a head gasket leak on my Outback just before it turned 100,000 miles, when the Subaru warrantee would run out. They advised me to take the car to a Subaru dealership where the gasket was replaced at no cost to me!
