I have been dealing with Steve Thompson, the owner, and his crew for 26 years. They have always been very reliable, helpful with a ride when needed and give streightforward no BS anwsers to or questions. He's the kind of businessman that knows if you're kind and treat people with respect, give away a little quick fix when someone is in need, never lie to your customer that your lot will always be full based upon goodwill. He's the kind of guy you know that your wife can take the car to if you're out of town and not get screwed. (not like your brother!) I once recommended this shop to a friend who was have an electrical problem with his Buick. Steve and one of his mechanics chased wires on this car for 2 days until they could get the wiring diagram from GM. Once they had that info, they fixed it within an hour and only charged my friend for 2 hours even though they had 20 hours combined. It wasn't the customer's fault they didn't have the diagram. There always some indicator in a shop that tell you that they are doing things right. Things are neat, tool have a place, there isn't a heap of parts and tools on the work bench. Another thing, his staff doesn't change much at all. That tells me he treats them right and he has taught them how he deals with people and it really shows.

My whole family has been having work done at Hilltop for in excess of 20 years. Steve Thompson has given both my brother and I help and advice many times at no cost, taking his own time to tell us what we need to do to fix the problems. Over all those years he did extensive work on my Mom's Dodge Dart Swinger, Ford Taurus, Merc., my Dad's Fords, lincoln, Ford Pickup, my brother's Javelin, Fords, Datsun pickup and my '68 Plymouth Satalite, Toyota, Chev. Luv, Ford Crown Vic., Thunderbird, Saturn, Dodge Caravan and my step daughter's Honda. There are a few I can't remember. My point being, his team has always done a good job, no matter what the make or model, and on the few occasions when one of us didn't feel something was right, he took care of it. He's the only mechanic I trust.

The clutch on our Mazda 626 was acting up and I had to wait 20 extra minutes for the work to be finished. They did the work for free because I was patient (unheard of)!

I have been going to this shop for over five years. I started patronizing this shop before I was married and have never been treated poorly because I am a woman - never been treated poorly there period. The staff is friendly, competent, humorous, and thorough. The mechanics stay at the business for years - low staff turnover. They can usually diagnose over the phone and are great about getting work done that day. They have worked on both our Mazda and Subaru. We have used them for routine maintenance, brake work, and clutch problems. I trust their advice and their work. We are moving and I'm sad to leave these guys behind.

They are always willing and able to make quality repairs and normal service at very good prices. Many times they have done small things for me and refused to take any money, telling me that I am a good customer. If I need to leave the car, they always give me a cheerful ride home, and then a pick-up when the work is done. They have been the only shop I have used since 1989. The first time I came in, I told Steve that he would have all of my mechanical business until the first time that I felt I had been treated poorly. His only comment was "If it ever happens, please tell me so I can make it right". It has never happened. Imagine -- an really honest mechanic!!!

My first experience with Hilltop was very positive. I brought in a Caravan which overheated and got a comprehensive diagnosis which included quite a bit of work, but I am confident that the old machine needed everything they said it did, and they helped me determine whether or not it was worth doing (yes, he thought, the 3.3 l motor goes forever, other things being equal). The cost of the service was a very good value, I think, and I will go again when I need additional service. The owner was very communicative and helpful.
