I spent a good deal of time looking for a competent mechanic for my 1996 900S in the Olympia area. Throughout this period my car was sounding like either an airplane or an unmuffled Hummer. I settled on Import Services and announced to Steve my believe that my car needed *at least* a new muffler, as well as some work on the exhaust system up front (based on loud noises from under the driver's side door as well). Steve Nelson's report: I did *not* need a new muffler; there was a single cracked pipe, along with broken down oil. Grand total bill: $125 for the part, $60 or so for all labor, parts, bumper-to-bumper inspection, etc. My stupid muffler statement had essentially put extra money in his hands, and he told me I didn't need to spend it. Side benefits: Steve has been working on imports for >25 years and obviously knows his stuff. We had a nice talk about how Saabs have changed over the years... there were half a dozen or so other Saabs in the parking lot, ranging from 1980s models through 9-3s and 9-5s. Bottom line: Nice guy, fast work, very honest, super prices.

I have taken our '78 Volvo, my daughter's '95 Jetta, and my '89 Camry to Steve. Every time he has been honest, fair, helpful and fixed the problem(s). Everyone with an IQ over 20 who has a Volvo goes to Import Services. (Of course, only really smart people have Volvos.) In our community of about 100,000 people, there is no one better. Period. If you really like the patronizing, rip-off, high-priced, never-fix-it, drive-you-nuts "authorized dealer service" approach, forget about Steve Nelson and Import Services. This is a truly honest guy who loves cars and treats folks right. You can bank on it. Mike Sharar

This is the only place to take your car too!! Even tho I live out of town this is the only place I will take my Volvo too. Steve is honest, fair and so very knowlegable in Volvo's. They are a very friendly shop and make me feel so comfortable, never talk down to me, explain everything so even I can understand! I only hope that Steve never retires!!!
