Tom's a great mechanic and a great guy, if you can get more than a few words out of him. He is a native vermonter, and becuase of that a man of few words. He has helped me out several times when my Saab has had problems driving to and from the Boston Metro area. It makes it worthwile for me to return to Ludlow/Okemo because I know if my car breaks down (it has quite a few times) he will fix me up, sometimes just a "bandaid" is all i need to get home...

I made an appointment for a new Safari van (15,000 miles). I needed an oil change, etc. The tires were wearing and the dealership wasn't responding. It turns out that I needed idler arms and Tom suggested I go back to the dealership as I was under warranty. He was right on the money. Tom also found a small oil leak and sent me back to my dealer after another appointment. Tom is honest as the day is long and a great mechanic. My husband and I couldn't be mor thrilled to have found Tom Potvin.

Thank you, Cartalk, for providing the only straight-forward mechanic within five miles. After being "taken to the cleaners" by two semi-honest mechanics not recommended by Cartalk over the past three months, I decided to drive the extra two miles to Tom's, set on a steep, off-the-beaten track hill in snowy Vermont. He responded immediately, charged minimally, and was even willing to drop me off at work and pick me up. I can now sigh with relief that there's someone to rely upon for auto advice. He stated he didn't know he was on Cartalk's recommended list so I hope he reads this. He said he "used to" listen to the radio show; perhaps he will, now, again?
