I heard of Tyson's Auto Specialties thru this site earlier this yr (2000). Before Tom does anything, he explains the work he's going to do and lets you know if you really need something done or not! They are very reliable & honest there. I'm glad I found a good mechanic!

This is one of the most honest shops I've ever been to. They have advised me when I wanted more work done on my old clunker than was worth and have since kept my new car rolling. They've even let me know when a competitor might be cheeper for a particular job. The work they do is always done efficiently and their price quotes are always accurate.

They have the diagnostic equipment to read the internal error codes when the "check engine" light comes on, helping me avoid a trip to the overworked, overscheduled, overpriced dealer. When I moved 30 miles away, I couldn't find another shop that wouldn't say, "Oh, you need to take it to the dealer."

PS - It's not "Tyson's", it's "Tysons" after the neighborhood around it....

Tom Ivey is an extraordinary individual. Personable, competent and honest. He has been in this location for many years. He told me all his work comes from word of mouth. That he has done no advertising for 7 years. Yet, his parking area is always full of cars scheduled to be repaired.

Tom Ivey is great. I will never have my cars repaired anywhere else.

I found this shop on this website and decided to check it out for a problem i was having with my brakes. From the moment I called them they were pleasant and professional. They made time to fit me in the day after I called. When I got to the shop the courtesy and professionalism continued. They evaluated my brakes and suggested that I could wait for a few months without any worries. Rather than take my money and perform the unneeded work (would've been an easy sale since I had already told them that I thought there was a problem)they suggested that I wait. Needless to say, when I do require repairs I will most certainly be back.
