Don is the finest mechanics I have met in my life. Having served in Uncle Sam's Army for nearly 28 years, I've met mechanics all over the world. I have seen some very good ones and some ah .. let's say not so good ones. While his knowledge and competence is without peer, it was his HONESTY that initially impressed me and still does after nearly eight years. If you pull into his shop with a cooling system problem attirbutable to a leaking water hose, he doesn't tell you you need a new water pump, or radiator, or both. No, Don tells you honestly and truthfully what's the source of the problem. I know the sun doesn't rise and set on mechanics --but if it did it would rise and set on Don's (His shop's address is 13448 Warwick Blvd in Newport News. You can tell him "Ski" sent you)

I drive a 90 Buick which spent one too many years in the frozen north of Wisconsin, if you know what I mean. Ice, salt and cold weather have taken there toll and Don recongized that a poor college boy needs the basics fixed like brakes and timing...not dents and rust. He didn't treat me like I didn't know anything (good thing since I really do know something about cars). Furthermore, when he realized he had missed something the first time around he didn't charge me extra for having to tear it apart again to fix what he missed. Something I often don't expect from mechanics, but it was sure nice to see this time.

I have been going to Don for more years than I want to admit. He is the most honest man I ever met. I recommend him to every one I know. I am in the process of trying to get my sister's car here from NC because some mechanic listened to it and told her the crank shaft was cracked. DAH.........and it would cost $2,500 to fix it. I would rather pay to get it here and let Don look at it that take a chance with anyone else. If you want the truth, go to Don's.

One of Don's mechanics went the extra mile and correctly diagnosed that water had gotten in to one of the anti-lock brake sensors. The dealer had three opportunities to get that right -- the difference in price (blowing out the water vs. replacing the part): $600. Excellent. The one time they didn't diagnose a problem and fix it the first time they promptly apologised, took the vehicle back in, and repaired it in under a day. No muss, no fuss. Highly recommended.
