I'm learning how to do a lot of maintenance myself and was changing out my manuall transmission fluid. Well I unfortunately took out the wrong bolt, the "reverse idler gear shaft" bold that holds the gears in place inside the transmission, and couldn't get it back in. Dealer wanted $1800 for a full trans rebuild. Local garages wanted $900 for partial rebuild (drop trans, re- position gears and put back up). Jim's Transmissions quoted me a little higher than the local garages but I figured that I wanted to go to an actual transmission shop in case I did any damage - they would probably know what they were doing more. Turns out, they were able to access the gears through the drain plug to re-align them without having to pull it out of the car. Cost me a total of $250 and the car drives BETTER than it did before. They could have totally ripped me off and they didn't. These guys are my transmission guys for life!
