The first time I went to Baird Automotive, I wrote a check for the repair. A week or so later, I got a call from Joey Baird saying that he realized he had overcharged me and wanted to return my check so that I could write another one. Some cynics have suggested this was a ploy to make me think he was honest, but I never had any reason to doubt him in the six years that I went to his garage. I've only stopped because I've moved to another state.

I took my car to Baird because they have a good reputation, and I knew specifically that he was familiar with 70's Cadillacs, since I'd seen more than a couple in the lot. His shop is also in walking distance from my apartment, which is always a plus. Joey certainly knows his stuff, and did a good job of figuring our my level of knowlege and explaining things accordingly. He was also willing to prioritize repairs, knowing that it's not always worth it to fix EVERYTHING on an older car. There was a minor problem with some of the work he did, but he fixed it immediately at no charge when I came back. As far as price goes, his labor rates did seem a little higher than chain shops, but this is an occasion where you get what you pay for. You should call ahead for an appointment, tho, since he gets a lot of business.

I've been very pleased with the work they've done on my 98 VW Jetta GLX... I knew when I bought it that it was riskier than a Honda. I knew that I was buying a car that can have more troubles than some others but haven't regretted the decision in the least. Sure enough, I had to replace the Mass Airflow Sensor (a perennial problem in that model). But I wasn't raked over the coals and feel good that the shop is looking out for me with my tempermental vehilce. Since when it runs it's a lot of fun, and they've helped me keep the fun rolling! (no time wasted with the vehicle offline). He even made sure I put the right octane in my tank. No contest the best experience I've had with a shop.

I have taken my BMW and Jeep to many places in the North Arlington region over the past 5 years, and have usually received average to bad service. When we had to get the BMW fixed, they did a great job of diagnosing the problem, explaining exactly what was wrong and what was needed to be fixed. The price was shockingly reasonable, and the service was excellent. Of course, my wife then got in an accident and I am searching your site for a good auto body mechanic. Thanks Baird's, hope to someday be able to send my car there again.
