This place is great! I had an awful experience with a Midas maybe 5 years ago in another state, but this specific shop in Alexandria on 450 South Pickett Street is my go to. This was the first mechanic I visited in the area when I was given my mother's hand-me-down 1996 Tercel. I chose this place because it was in walking distance to my apartment. I asked them to just give it a general check out and also told them it was due for an oil change. They replaced a filter on that visit, but explained that they checked the oil and it looked good - and it could go another ____ miles. I was impressed that they didn't just do it and charge me for it since I asked them to. So when it was time to have the oil changed the next time, I went to these guys. And my first visit was just as good as the rest. I'm a female in my mid twenties and definitely give off the vibe that I know nothing about cars. They have been great at explaining car parts/issues to me in an understandable way. I never feel talked down to or taken advantage of. They also know I'm tight on money, and when car issues are less serious or not immediately necessary, they let me know how long I can go before making any big investments. Since I started going to them about 3 years ago I have moved across town. Despite this, (and the fact that there is a closer Midas to my house) I still visit the guys on 450 South Pickett Street. Chris (I believe is his name) is almost always behind the counter, and has always been especially helpful. I really trust them and confidently recommend them to my friends in the area. I would send my family there if they lived here too!
