This is the greatest repair shop in the world... if you have a VW or Audi. I didn't check most of the boxes loaners or estimates but they can tell you what the repair will be off the top of their head on the phone. And they don't specialize in anything because they specialize in everything. They can repair anything but the body of any Audi or VW. That's all they fix and there is no service manager. You talk right to the man fixing your car. Service is fast if you are waiting and the hourly rate is much cheaper than the dealer (the two owners are former Audi/VW dealer mechanics). They will install used parts if they think it's safe, they offer up rebuilds of components if the price of new is insane (if a new item is $400, a rebuild $95, they will tell you to get the rebuild). I like to wait and they don't have loaners (it's just a garage on a corner), but one block away is a coffee shop with free internet for your laptop (wired AND wireless) and a wonderful menu of breakfast and lunch items. Sometimes I bring my dogs as there is a part two blocks away. The center of downtown Salt Lake City is 10 blocks away. I can never leave Salt Lake or buy anything but an Audi or a VW as long as these people are in business – you have never had such a wonderful car repair experience as you will have here. If they tell you something needs fixing or replacing, just do it. Don't argue – they aren't wrong and they aren't trying to rip you off. And if you like to argue politics, Joe is always up for it. He's right of Rush and I'm as left wing as they come and we go at it so hard sometimes Joe's partner comes in and kicks me out so work can get done. I cannot recommend this place highly enough (I am not related to anyone there and I don't get any referral fee – I just have never been so happy with a mechanic since John Buffum himself used to work on my car in Colchester, Vermont back 15 years ago; don't know John Buffum? Do a Google search).

Good alternative to the pricey Audi dealership. Nothing fancy about the place, but they seem to know what they're doing.

The least mono-syllabic mechanic is Wendell, who usually handles customers. I'm a middle-aged woman but have never felt like they're trying to put one over on me. In fact, I've gone to them expressing fears about major repairs and come back to find they're charging me $30 to reattach a vacuum hose or replace some rubber dohickey. Their diagnostic skills are great. One caveat: They tend to discount rattles and other minor problems. I think that's because they mostly work on late-model and fancier Jettas and Audis, and my 1999 Jetta just isn't that impressive. So I'm now going to try one of the many shops in town that will be more attentive to my more humble concerns with taking care of the minor rattles that a 10 year old car has. But don't get me wrong; I strongly recommend these guys. Ridiculously honest, high quality work, and fair prices, they're a rare find.

Couldn't be happier with this mechanic. In 20 years, I have never felt overcharged and often was surprised at the price of the repair. They do excellent work and they do it quickly. As our family got larger, we bought a Honda minivan and my only regret is that I can't take it to Alpine for service. Love this place and couldn't recommend it more highly.
