Over twenty years ago I met Werner Questereit, Melvin's father, and started my love affair with Mercedes Benz. I have now owned five Benz, and the Questereits have never let me down. In 1993 Werner rebuilt my 300D (diesel) and warned me that I needed to properly break-in the engine before taking a mid-summer trip to San Diego. I failed to follow his instructions and reasoned that the engine would get all the breaking-in it needed during the trip. 20 miles outside of Los Vegas I heard a loud clatter and felt a hesitation in power. After being towed to Fletcher-Jones Mercedes and having their "best" mechanics estimate that I needed the top-end of the engine rebuilt and a new fuel injection pump, I called Werner. After a brief discussion with a couple of Fletcher-Jones' finest, Werner got me on the line and told me to "keep those guys away from that car." I rented a car for the rest of our trip, and Werner drove to Los Vegas towing my 240D for my return trip. It turned out that a $1.50 exhaust valve guide had seized on the valve shaft which resulted in an open valve (loss of power), and the piston clapping against the valve head. Werner performed all the repairs, including the towing of cars down and back, and never charged me a dime. Take that one for an unconditional guarantee! Three years ago that same car saved my daughter's life in a head-on collision. Werner and Melvin removed the engine and fit it in another car which runs like new to this day. "Built like no other car" is only half of what Mercedes Benz is all about. The other half is outstanding mechanics to keep your car safe and reliable. Werner is now semi-retired, but Mel can be counted on just like his father. They are the best. John M. Keyser - Holladay, Utah
