I had moved to Tyler about six weeks before. I drive an '01 Subaru and needed an axle replacement. There are no Subaru dealers within 100 miles, so not knowing where to take my car I turned to the Car Talk site. The previous postive recommendations were correct, Hughes is an honest shop. It took 2 days for the axle to get in, so I was going take the city bus, but owner Bill Hughes offered to have one of his guys take me to my job, about 2 miles away. Mechanic Geoff is a pleasant guy as well. Very glad I found Hughes Automotive.

Had a mysterious occasional dying problem in my '87 Honda Accord. They found the problem (an intermittent relay under the dash) and fixed at a good price. Son's '79 Pontiac Catalina developed a bad miss at speeds. They found the problem was in new, cheap, aftermarket spark plug wires son had put on car. Replaced them with (expensive)Genuine GM parts and car runs fine. They keep my 97 year old father's Mercury Grand Marquis running. Run by a very knowledgeable lady who I think is daugter of owner. Have an English mechanic who is also very good--he is usually booked up though.

Had a 1993 Honda Civic, sold at 255,000 miles, still running strong. Now I have a 1998 Accord, 105,000 miles and due for a timing belt. This is where I'll be taking it. These guys are honest and darn good mechanics.
