These guys are HONEST. It is unfortunate that they are associated with Firestone 'cuz I don't trust that company, but I certainly trust this mechanic! He gives honest up front estimates, says up front whether or not something will work, and doesn't gouge prices. When I get several repairs/maintence done on my Jeep at once, he gives me a discount. He replaced the alternator in my wife's old Honda--the alternator he used was defective and the car broke down a few days later (not his fault--he bought an alternator that had been reconditioned badly). I called him and he quickly apologized, towed the car to his shop and made it right at no cost. When I asked him about changing the broken A/C to a new non-freon system, rather than just do it, he warned me that the conversion was likely to only last a few months.

I take my Blazer to these guys for oil and filter changes, they have also done some of the major scheduled maintenance and some major suspension work for me. All work was done well and has never required a return visit. Being a Firestone dealer, you should expect suspension work to be their forte, and I can't say anything about their ability to handle major engine or transmission repairs. With regard to the question about public transportation, there's a VIA bus stop across the street in front of the local Starbuck's.
