Bray's Automotive was recommended to me by my brother. I usually do most of my own repair work, but newer cars have become so complex, I find I need help more than I used to. Ashley (the owner) is probably the best trouble shooter I've met. He usually can diagnose the problem within a few minutes and if he can't, he knows who he can call for help. I had a problem with my automatic transmission-the lock-up torque converter was unlocking at freeway speeds every time I lightly stepped on the gas. I called Ashley to see about bringing it in for him to look at. He told me to give him a couple minutes to call the owner of a transmission shop to make sure what he thought what was the problem was really what was wrong. I called him back and he told me it was the throttle control cable. I said I would bring it in the next morning. He said that would not be necessary and proceeded to tell me how to fix it myself (he knows I am a pretty decent shade-tree mechanic). I offered to come by and pay him for the assistance, but he said not to worry, it was a minor fix and would only take me a few minutes. I adjusted the cable like he said, and lo and behold, my transmission was back to normal! Ashley honesty and commitment to customer service is apparent. Every time I've gone in for repair, there always seems to be other repeat customers there. My Dad and Sister now patronize his shop. Ashley not only tells you what reapirs are needed, but why and will not pressure into work you don't want done. If he sees something that might need attention, he will tell you about it, but then leave the decision up to you. Even though I live 40 miles from Ashley's shop, it is worth the drive for a trust-worthy mechanic. By the way, Ashley's head mechanic, Don, is very good as well.
