Bob Mander is one of those rarities; honest, fair, and a nice person (and he repairs cars too!). I've bounced from various repair shops over the years but know I've found a home with Mander Automotive. He doesn't go "looking" for repairs to be made, but recommends when he sees repairs in your future (is that a crystal ball in bay three?). I know others agree because the line of cars waiting to be serviced grows all the time.

I found Mander Automotive through this website after moving here. When you have questions, it is usually (always?) Bob Mander himself who will explain what is needed. He'll go out of his way to save you money and explain what is and is not needed and give you the options of what you want to repair/replace. Extremely honest and trustworthy! The only drawback is he's so good that he always has about a 2- 3 day backlog of jobs, and it sometimes take awhile to get to yours. (Call ahead!) However, it's worth the wait...you can count on what he tells you.

I am a shade tree mechanic so I do most of my own work however when the job is too big I take it to Bob Mander. I have been pleasantly surprised every time.

Bob and his crew have taken great care of my son's and my trucks for years and I really appreciate his honesty and good work. I believe he must be as good as you guys sound like you are.

Mander Automotive is a wonderful place to take my vehicle. They are all honest, thorough, straight forward. This is one of those rare places where your handshake and reputation is the cornerstone of great business.

Recently my wife and I were planning on taking a road trip from San Antonio to Las Vegas. My Miata is too small and not comfortable for a long trip and our 2003 Toyota Tacoma doesn't get the best gas milage so we decided to take my wife's 1989 Volvo 240 sedan. It's comfortable, rides great and gets pretty good gas milage. And at around 250,000 miles its just broken in. Unfortunately it had developed a small oil leak at the front of the engine. I suspected a leaking front cam seal but was afraid it might be a head gasket. Normally I do all the repair work on all our cars unless special tools are required, but I just didn't have the time to do the work. After checking the CarTalk site and reading the reviews on local shops I took the car to Mander. Outstanding service. Called as the repairs progressed (it was the seal) suggested replacement of the timing belt and tensioner which was due anyway and had the car back to us in a timely manner. We received a follow-up email when we got home offering repair tracking. I would recommend this garage to anyone.

Bob Manders is simply the best. I rely upon him totally to work on my cars. He fixed an air conditioning problem on my Mustang very inexpensively. Manders did tune-ups on my GMC pickup and my wife's Tahoe and fixed a variety of small problems with door locks, leaking water pump, dripping transmission, etc. Heck, they even inspected my motorcycle. Trustworthy? None better. Try Manders. You will not be disappointed. If a problem pops up they will work to make it right.

I've been taking all our cars to Mander's since the shop opened here in Helotes. Right now we have an '01 Odyssey, a '96 Avalon and a '93 Accord. Mander's keeps them running. ALL the mechanics and the office staff are superior. It's a great place.
