Last year I decided to install a supercharger (Jackson Racing) on my '97 Honda EX. Not feeling up to the "heavy lifting", I hired my son (sometimes a good mechanic) to do the job. He made a mess of the installation - it looked like the V-TEC engine had been attacked by rabid beavers, and it wouldn't run. I heard from a friend that Mike did good careful work, and knew Hondas. He towed it to his shop, found the problem which was keeping the engine from running (no intake gasket), and more impressive, he cleaned up the installation so that it is so neat Honda might have done it in production. He charged $100. Since then, I've had Mikes do several pieces of work. I know a lot about cars, and they always do a very careful competant job. They also explain auto repairs correctly, and have never taken an opportunity to do unnecessary and expensive work when an adjustment fixes the problem.

My son was on a trip from New York to New Mexico via Rt 40. Their truck was overheating badly in OK. (They were driving at night with the heat full on to dissipate the engine heat.) I checked the Car Talk files found Mike's. Called them at 10PM eastern and got Mike working late. He was kind enough to talk with me at some length about their problem and he was certainly both knowledgeable and careful about the possible problem, things to check, and various scenarios. (His prices seem very reasonable, too.) I called my son on the road and let him know that Mike would on the lookout for them if they could manage to get there in one piece. The world would be a better place with more people like this.
