A friend of mine had his pickup truck repaired here. I then borrowed the truck to pull a U-Haul trailer to take my daughter to college in Lexington, KY leaving my friend home in Johnson City. Somewhere between Knoxville and the KY line it began overheating. We continued to limp along adding water constantly until we got into KY when we finally had to give up and pull into a gas station. They said that we had big trouble (I don't understand all the details - what does cracked block mean?). I told them it had just been fixed and he asked if we could get the mechanic on the line. We called him at home and he talked to the gas station guy. Then Brian drove to where we were (about 3 hrs) bringing his brother in a second pickup. They off-loaded my friend's truck into the brother's truck and we continued on. They pulled the friend's truck back to town and fixed it again (at no charge). I had only met Brian briefly before this - he did not do it as a "favor". He did it because he guarrantees his work and felt it had not been fixed right the first time. How many mechanics would have done that?

Brian and his staff saved us about $300.00 over what a dealer would have charged. The work was done in a timely manner and was done correctly. As an added plus, Brian is a great supporter of the arts in the area. I highly recommend Ponder's to all my friends.

Each time they found my problem quickly, left it on test overnight at no extra cost once, and were very courteous and professional with me and my daughter.

We wouldn't leave our cars with anyone else to repair. Recently our son took apart his car engine to change a head gasket. He couldn't put it back together again. We towed the car, with the engine's guts in the trunk, to Ponder's. They reassembled it quickly. We are happy to recommend Brian Ponder to everyone!

Brian Ponder is a very honest mechanic and owner who has personally shuttled me to work multiple times when I dropped my car off for repair. They usually get the job done on time and the price is reasonable. Brian personally inspected an old Ford Bronco for free before I bought it, and told me what repairs would be needed. He spent much of his own time, at no cost, to repair additional problems that were discovered. I bring all three of my cars there for just about everything.

I used Ponder's for a couple of years and never had a problem with them. The problem came when I recommended them to my girlfriend (now my wife) who was new to the area. She had a funny noise coming from her engine and she took her car in to have them look at it. 3 days later, they called to tell her that her car was ready to pick up. Confused because she had never heard what the problem was, she went to the shop and was confronted with a bill over $800. They hadn't told her what the problem was but just went ahead and replaced a very expensive part. The car itself was worth $500. When I went it to confront Mr. Ponder, he was very defensive and finally said "look, if I had known she was with you, we would've called first." I've never been so disgusted in my life. NEVER GO TO PONDER!
