I went to S&S Automotive with front end problem (1990 Taurus Wagon GL : a piece of crap but that is another story). They Replaced the ball joint (one that I bought from a discount part shop :) )and saved atleast $150 from the closest quote in my area. The family run business is expertly and honestly operated (20+ yrs at the same location) a very clean and spacious place where the customer is encouraged to witness everything that is done to his car. A week later I had an oil change (about 5$ more than the econo-lube on Harbison Rd but... read on) and what a service!. Halvoline Oil was poured from sealed quart bottles and all the fluids were topped off. Transmission fluid was low (by a quart!) so Tom visually inspected the undercarriage and found that the gasket was leaking (I had replaced the gasket 12 months ago from "Econo-Lube"!! and subsequently had 2 oil changes but econo-lube mechanics failed to detect a problem; they never checked the transmission fluid) and the reason was -one bolt holding the pan was missing! and half of the bolts were not tight. He corrected the situation with a smile and charged nominally for the service THE SMILE WAS FREE. He also brought to my notice that one of the belts is showing cracks and asked me to have it replaced (after 84000 miles of use). The owner who was within the earshot, came, assesed the need and advised me to buy belts from autozone and he will mount them for 35$!. He advised me to buy both the belts because he will not charge more for mounting two new belts instead of one! They have all my future business and my good will. I will endorse their business to all my friends in need of auto repairs. Thanks for your time Regards Dr Chandrashekhar Patel Columbia SC

The owner of this wonderful shop is a very nice guy and on several occasions has trusted me to pay him for work he has done several days after he was finished because I was short on cash. This is something special especially in this day and time.
