Mike has no bed-side manner. He is good and fair, so he's always busy and can't neccessarily jump on your car as soon as it dies. I think of him as the mechanic-nazi(as in the soup-nazi of Seinfeld fame). When I go in I just stand in a corner until he can get around to talking o me. He will not fix what isn't broken and his prices are always fair.

The shop is near the worst part of town in North Charleston, near Stall Rd, however its really not that bad in comparison to say Brookly or maybe even Compton. The mechanic took the car for a test drive and immediately knew what the problem was. They did however read the codes just in case and fixed the problem promptly. Public transportation is not nearby but it easy to get a friend to pick you up and drop you off due to its location.

Mike is always busy, but every repair that I have had done by Mike has been finished the same day that I brought the car to him. Call ahead or stop by, and don't expect to get your car in right away. Mike has small garage, so he usually tells me the day to bring it in. Mike is a hard working, no-nonsense mechanic, so don't expect alot of chit chat. He is very good at explaining problems and getting repairs done quickly, correctly and inexpensively. He is the best mechanic I have dealt with in the Charleston Area, hands down!

I have known Mike for nearly 20 years. He has always done a first rate job for me. I had a Landscape company in Charleston and he always kept my trucks on the road. I also had an old English car that he did a lot of work on and broutht it "back from the grave" He dosent have the greatest bedside manner but he is honest, fair, and he knows what he is doing. I would reccomend him to anyone.

The reviewer # 23387 2000 has written some incorrect information about this shop. It is not in North Charleston and is not even close to Stall Road. It is located in downtown Charleston in a good area and is very close to public transportation. I have been going to this mechanic for over twenty years, I now live in Charlotte NC and I wish I could find someone as honest as he is in Charlotte.

Mike's Garage installed used automatic transmission in my 2000 Isuzu Rodeo. Installation was excellent and fast. Price was very reasonable also. Highly recommend.

Mike's garage is not the most user-friendly, but I still highly recommend them. His shop is right next to some housing projects, it has no sign, and Mike is not exactly a conversationalist. However, if you can get him on the phone, he will fix what you need fixed for cheap. He will not look for other problems, up-sell you, or overcharge you. Bare bones, to the point, competent, fast, and cheap is the deal here.
