Fred Rios (owner) has worked on Mercedeses all his life and therefore also is an expert on diesels. I had a lot of trouble getting my Merc diesel going and with bad experiences with other shops Fred proved to be a shining light of expertise. They always have tons of Mercs in the shop when I get there and they seem quite busy, but Fred has helped me out when I needed it it, even though I am a new customer. They have a terrific deal with the local Hertz dealership so you can rent a car for peanuts AND they drop you off too. Fred has always offered me the lowest cost repair option (I have verified that through the Merc bulleting boards). The location is a bit off the beaten path, but the shop is definetely worth the detour. A friend of mine also brings his Merc to only one place: Fred's!

I went to another Mercedes dealership in Providence that shall remain nameless (begins with G, ends with ERMAN) and was treated less than disrespectfully. They wouldn't even look at me, forget my beat up old diesel Benzer. Fred took the time to explain to me 1) that fixing up The Beast would take a little while 2) what exactly we could do to get it up and running and safe and 3) what we could wait on, for when the money came in. Fred seems to be an excellent mechanic and is very respectful. In general, I always feel cheated by car guys, but Fred makes me feel good about this. He outlines what he's done, what might need work in the future, he's always prompt to reply to calls and is reasonably priced, for his expertise. My old MB wagon is running pretty great these days, thanks to Fred and some bucks. I'd recommend Fred and his Auto Haus to anyone.
