I am a single female and definitely in a man's world when it comes to having to take my car to have repairs/inspections done. I have been dealing with this service center for the past 9 years and have never had any problems with any of the work that has been done. A excellent example would be: I had a problem with my brake lights not operating correctly and had taken my car to 2 other places, they had replaced a "switch" 3 times and each time they again would not light up when I pressed on my brake pedal. It was recommended to me by a fellow nurse that I should try Molnar's Service Center. They fixed the problem & I never had another brake light problem with that car. I have taken my cars into them to have inspections done and I never feel that there is things done that really weren't required. I have finally found somewhere that I as a female can go and not feel like I've been taken advantage of. They even have a nice area that you can relax while your car is being worked on.

Most recently, I brought my car in for some unsettling rattling noises that occur when I accelerate. The mechanic took it for a drive, gave me several explanations as to possible sources of the trouble and then recommended a transmission shop that the people of this shop knows personally to check it out. He said that since there were so many "maybes" that I should get a second opinion (esp. since Rudy Molner's doesn't specialize in transmission repair... which is what my problem seems to be) I have great respect for someone who knows his limitations. I was not charged for this advice (which I appreciate). I have actually used the shop itself a couple of times and have found the prices to be reasonable (I usually call around to other shops to compare prices for the same job), and the work to be of good quality (I've never had to take the car back for the same problem). I appreciate that I am treated respectfully as a "car literate" young woman. Lastly, they recommended an excellent autobody repair place, Armstrong's Autobody on Penn Ave. I haven't checked out the transmission place yet, but I trust their referals due to this experience with the autobody shop.

I am a twenty-something female who bought a new "used" car two years ago. I have been through quite a few problems with this fairly low mileage mistubishi since I got it in 2001. I'm no idiot when it comes to car problems as I have had my share of them in my lifetime. Gary at Rudy Molnar's has been wonderful. I finally feel that I can trust a mechanic, and they ALWAYS correct the problem the first time. he even let me know that he had another customer with the same make and model whom was having the same exact problems with his car. I will always go back to Rudy Molnar for the many problems that continue to arise with this crappy mitsubishi montero sport that I despise for it's unreliability. Gary is a saint in the world of auto mechanics. I think I'll send him a "thank you" card, and let him know I'll be in soon.:(

The people at Molnar's shop were friendly and polite. They were prompt about calling me and updating my on the car's status. The work was done well and quickly. I would likely bring my car to them in the future. My only complaint is that the shop closes at 5pm and there was no key drop (at leat, they did not tell me of one). So, for people who work regualr 9-5 hours the only option for drop off and pick up is early morning which I found frustrating.

I took my car to them in a bind and they fixed the problem. They are good people and they know cars. As a woman, I trusted them and was always treated with respect. Most of all, I was a satisfied customer and recommended a friend of mine from out of town to get some help with his car and he said he thought I pointed him in the right direction because he told me he felt good with their results. Thank you Rudy and staff and I'm here in the eastern Bronx looking for a good mechanic!

As an out-of-town grad student with an old car (1990 Buick), I was worried when my brakes started grinding and squealing. Not knowing where to get a good recommendation for a mechanic, I (sort of in desperation) checked the "Car Talk" website & found these listings. The recommendations for Rudy Molnar's Service encouraged me to give them a call, and after speaking with them on the phone, I got the sense that they were honest and not at all patronizing (I'm a woman.) I brought the car in, Nick called me later in the day and explained the whole situation--even telling me, after I'd asked him to replace the struts in back and front, that he didn't need to do that in front, because someone had already done it. Anyway--got the car back the next day, and it's braking beautifully--nice and smooth. I'd promised myself that I'd write a recommendation if all went well to help the next person. Thanks!

On a Friday afternoon I took my 2006 Mazda in for a minor bearing noise. After the test drive and putting the car up on hoist, I was told that both bearings need to be replaced. After 2 hours, I was informed that the part that got delivered was not right and they were not able to locate any other part. In the mean time, they took the bearing apart. After another 2 hours of failed attempt to locate any parts. I was told that I could not get my vehicle back and they damaged the bearing in the process of dissembling it. I was told to rent a car on my expense and, when I asked, they would not pay for it. I was also told that it is not their fault that they screwed up a part and did not wait to get the right part before they went all in for the repair. I was also told that it was not their fault that they could not disassemble the bearing right. I demanded my car be put back together as I had a lot of things planned for the weekend. They did, and when I started driving, it made horrendous noise, the brakes won't work, and it was non-drivable. I took it to the dealer next day, and I was told that in the process of putting the old bearing back together, they had damaged the suspension knuckle, caliper assembly, brake rotor. Now I'm looking at a $1500 plus expense which should have cost me less than $500. Oh, the kicker, the dealer told me that there was nothing wrong with the right bearing. In the end, I feel really good being lied to and told that I needed repairs that the car really didn't need. I'm suing them and taking them to small claims court and reporting them to BBB. So please check with other places for second opinion on prices and repairs and avoid this place if you can. Please save yourself a lot of misery.
