The head mechanic, Bobby, has been at this store for many years, and is, in my opinion, a rare breed among mechanics. I'm going to share two stories here. The first is about the quality of work, and the second is about the quality of character. First off, last year I was driving a beaten-up, falling-apart Chevy Cavalier. The transmission started to go late Saturday night. I called their number, which forwarded to Bobby, and was able to get an appointment "as early Monday as possible." The commute was interesting, to say the least. The car almost died at least a dozen times. About a half mile from his shop, it finally died at the crest of the hill from his location. I popped her into neutral, crossed my fingers, and coasted down the hill. When I rolled into the parking lot, they were already waiting for me. Long story short, they had to replace the transmission, and it would be two days before the car would be finished. The work itself would only take a couple of hours, but trying to find a transmission for an 88 Cavalier that still works, that's the tricky part. They didn't have a loaner that day (I think it was in use), but they helped me get a reduced rate at Enterprise. Two days later I come in with a completely replaced and rebuilt transmission for about $650. What's even more amazing was that after the work, the 88 Cavalier ran better than the 2007 PT Cruiser I had rented. Amazing work, and very well priced for a Tranny job. Finally, about the guy's character. Years ago, my dad went in to get his transmission fluid flushed. Well, Bobby took a look at it, and immediately advised against it. Bobby informed my dad that "about the only thing keeping this thing together is the varnish." Basically, Bobby said that he could flush the fluid, but doing so would most likely cause the transmission to die within a week. Instead, he told my dad to save his money. "That transmission could go in 10 miles, a 100, even a thousand. But if I do what you ask me to do, it will die within a week." The only thing my dad did to that transmission from then on was add tranny fluid. It lasted another 150,000 miles. Normally, a mechanic would just do the work, grin as you left the shop, and would "give you a discount" when you brought the car in the next week. Bobby's different.

They do good honest work. A good mechanic is had to find but I've found one here. Seems like they never make you wait for an apointemt and always complete repairs quickly.

I found Stan's Transmissions on this web site and gave them a try. I am completely satisfied! They got me in and out in the same day with a transmission problem. The price was reasonable considering the issue and I will definitely use them for all my auto issues from now on. It's refreshing to find a company not out for every dollar you have for unexpected repairs.
