On one of my first trips to Jim's, I brought in an old F-150 pickup that was having lots of problems. Jim took the time to patiently explain all of the problems and the needed repairs, and he even printed out an electronic diagram of the carburation system so he could explain it to me in detail. I almost felt sorry when we sold the old truck and bought a Toyota. Now I hardly ever get to visit Jim, although when he changes the oil, he'll do sometimes do something like change a lightbulb for free. Jim is just a regular local guy, and his shop is kind of smoky, but he has certain personality traits you don't find often. He's good with customers and maybe even better with women than with men.
