Bob and his son have been working on Volvos for a long time. They seem to have a fondness for the old rear-wheel drive Volvos (240, 740, 9xx) but can also work on the newer models as well. Bob used to work for a dealer a long time ago, so rather than going to a dealer and paying premium prices, Bob is an excellent alternative. He knows a Volvo inside and out and it is rare that he can't figure out what's wrong. I previously owned a 960 and while nobody could diagnose a misfiring situation after several attempts, he got it on the first try. Even got the specialty parts to fix it the next day. He's got a good relationship with the local parts people and will also source used parts where it makes sense. He's an interesting guy to talk to, but you probably ought to set up a time with him as he's almost always extremely busy. Also, get a ride home from the shop as there's no real place to wait except for a lone chair in his office. The shop itself is a little homely with a couple of 240 "carcasses" out front, but hey it's a garage, not a beauty parlor. Also, from time to time, he'll buy a broken 240, fix it and sell it, so if you're in the market for a RWD Volvo, he may have something for you. Bob a good guy who runs an excellent shop; you won't be disappointed.

I wanted to add my kudos for Bob's imports. I have a 2001 Volvo V70 wagon. I was referred to Bob's imports by the local Volvo club. The car was having a significant problem shifting from first to second and I was sure would need a new transmission. Bob took the car and was unwilling to give up until he figured out the problem. He replaced a small vacuum device and completely restored the normal shift. I believe his solution saved me several thousand dollars. He was a pleasure to work with and I am now referring my friends and colleagues with Volvos out to Bob's imports. I usually don't take the trouble to put in a review like this but he was a magician and a gentleman.
