Mr. Son changed the oil in my new-to-me 99 Civic for about 15 bucks (I brought the oil). He's very approachable and will not do after-market alterations, etc. (i.e., he does what he's certified to do). He's honest and helpful, values his business and customers, and tries to save you money.

Discovered Son Imports from the Mechanics files. Verdict: Thumbs up, will (and probably have to) visit again (with one "I wish...") First visit: visited dealer (Dick Hannah's Acura on Stark) when I heard a rubbing noise that goes faster as I drive faster. Dealer diagnosed as wheel bearing failing (on a 36k-mile car!) and quoted a fortune to repair. Dropped it off at Mr. Son's for a second opinion and he said everything looks good and didn't charge me a penny. He couldn't hear the noise and I should come back when it gets louder. Second visit: three month later the noise is louder. I took it in again and had three more thing on my list: antenna doesn't retract, rear defroster works but defroster light doesn't come on, hand-break light takes 30 minutes of driving before it turns off. Mr. Son quoted me parts and labor for all four problems and the results are... antenna: replaced w/new part defroster: shop gave him the wrong replacement model but he was able to purchase a used model and charged me accordingly. hand-break light: upon taking the part out, he discovered that the unit is repairable, so did not charge me a parts fee, only labor. rubbing noise: definitely not wheel bearing; checked out the car and it is safe to drive; come back when the noise is loder. I felt that Mr. Son was very honest -- he didn't have to tell me the defroster light unit was used (looked new) and can easily charged me the parts fee for the hand-break sensor and I wouldn't know. The only thing was I wish he could have diagnosed the rubbing noise and make necessary repairs. As it is, though I feel a little better driving the car knowing it is safe, it still bugs me.

I have been going to son Imports for 15yrs, first with a 1986 Toyota and for the past 1o years with my 1997 Toyota. They have always done and excellent job with fair prices. I have recommend Son Imports to friends and they have been very satisfies and now consider Son Imports their mechanic.

I learned of Son Import from this website when I needed new brakes for my 01 Subaru Impreza Outback and now I can't recommend Mr. Son enough. He is always friendly, reliable, honest, and affordable. He is usually able to get my car in with only a day notice and has it back to me the same day. Only once, when my rear right wheel bearing went out did it need to be redone due to a faulty replacement. He remedied the situation immediately and didn't charge me a dime, all the while be his usual friendly self. I have referred several friends to Son Import and they have all come away very happy. I love Son Import!

Car Talk Mechanics Files reviews sent me to this shop. And the reports are right. Mr. Son immediately checked my engine, removed a spark plug inspected it, asked me a few questions and told me it was running perfectly. Twice in six weeks the engine wouldn't start. It would crank, but not fire. Ten minutes later it would start. "Bad Gas, water in it" said Mr. Son. "Buy a can of additive at a car parts store, put it in your tank and it's fixed". He refused payment. I will certainly go there when I need any work done. And, will tell my friends about this honest man.

I took my car into Meineke for an oil change, and was told my bushing was shot, needing replacement, and that I should also replace all 4 struts for a total about about $1200. Took it to Son for a second opinion; they told me everything checked out fine, and refused any money for the trouble.
