I originally brought my '87 Accord in to Les Schwaab for new struts. Now this car grew up in Minnepolis and only moved out here three years ago, so it's seen plenty of salt in its time. The mechanic at LS who attempted the job called me up a couple hours after I brought it in saying the bolts on all the struts were siezed, necessitating a complete suspension assembly replacement. A $400 job suddenly became a $1500 job. So I took the car to Rob at Performance, to whom I was enthusiastically recommended by my housemate and fellow '87 Accord owner. Rob gave it a complete inspection for free and called back with a list of things that could use his attention in addition to the struts. His quote for the strut replacement was $50 less than what LS quoted. I had him write a quote for the additional work and just do the struts -- and he did it! He spent something like 6 hours getting the original struts off using a torch and a breaker bar. One of the springs was broken, so he -- free of charge -- welded it as a temporary fix until I could replace it. Rob seems very honest and competent. He showed great creativity and resourcefulness in the face of some really nasty siezed-up strut bolts, and he saved me a good chunk of cash. Kudos!

Rob is The Man. He has fixed all manner of problems on my old '86 Accord, and done it faster, cheaper and more personally than anywhere else I've been. My roomate's car wouldn't pass DEQ so he left it at Performance to get worked on. The tinkered, fixed a couple of minor things, and brought it to DEQ and then called after it had passed. Try and get Les Schwab to do that for ya.

I had a great experience with Rob on two occasions. He fixed my exhaust for a very cheap price. He also looked at my car again for a different problem and gave me a free estimate which included a test drive. Most mechanics don't even give free estimates anymore. I highly recommend Rob for your needs.
