I was driving my 12-year-old Ford Escort across the river from Washington to Portland, Ore., when smoke suddenly started pouring from under the hood. I still had another 50 miles to go before I would reach my home in Salem and I knew no one in Portland, so this was a particularly revolting development. I took the first exit off the freeway and luckily found Hi Tech Auto Services just a block or two down the street. I drove into the reception area, and immediately Mr. Lee Phu, seeing I was distressed, came to my assistance. (Probably my wailing and moaning gave me away.) He allowed me and my dog to wait in his office while he looked the car over and, after determining that he needed more time to discover the problem and that the car was unsafe to drive in its current condition, found me and the dog a room at a local motel to spend the night. The next day, the dog and I went back to his shop to wait for a friend to come fetch me from Salem. Many customers stopped by, and all had nothing but wonderful things to say about Mr. Phu. He welcomes drop- ins and makes room in his schedule to accommodate everybody, working 12-hour days Monday through Saturday and even Sundays if need be. On his bulletin board, I read several testimonials that had been posted from satisfied customers. Many attest that they come some distance, just to get work that will be done right by someone they trust. I no longer have that old Ford, but if I lived in Portland, I'd go the extra mile to bring my business to Mr. Phu also. He is conscientious, guileless and extremely skilled. He has a work ethic that would put Tommy to shame. Probably Raymie, too. Lee Phu -- a standup guy and all-around great auto mechanic.

Mr. Lee and his son David provide excellent service. I will not take my vehicles to any other shop.

Mr Le and his son David run a first-rate repair business with no frills. They repair all makes, are ASE Certified mechanics and are always busy, but never turn you away and always get the job done on the same day. I have had quickie oil changes, new serpentine belt, new tires, scheduled service recommended by the owner's manual and brakes. They always recommend the appropriate factory recommended parts and have reasonable fees. My Toyota Corolla has always had a little more cabin noise than I like, and David found me quieter tires. I have several friends who recommended them to me and they are also great for recommending what car to buy if you are looking, and more important, what models to avoid.
