This is a report on a dealership shop. On two occasions I have needed a significant car repair while in Eugene, OR and in both cases this shop has gone out of its way to provide good reasonably-priced service. On the most recent occasion I flew into Eugene and was met by my wife, who summers on the Oregon coast. The drivetrain of her car had a noticable whine and the front-differential dipstick had a lot of shredded fiber on it. The problem turned out to be the transmission (probably caused by a mis-repair in Flagstaff AZ while the car was loaned to a neighbor. which had caused the front differential to leak on the drive back to Phoenix). The car is a 1990 Subaru Legacy LS with 170k miles, with computer-controlled automatic transmission and transfer case. Anyway, I had my hometown mechanic talk with the Romania service manager (Randy McCarney) and they agreed on the repairs and the approximate price. After the repairs were made, when the Romania mechanic took the car out for a test drive, he heard the front right wheel bearing. The service manager arranged to have that fixed as well before I picked up the car, and still managed to bring the total bill below the agreed price. I was very satisfied with this service, and this service manager, and recommend it and him highly.
