I only went there once several years ago, when on a road trip my Mazda's transmission started making a funny noise. I asked the receptionist if she thought the guy could fix my car and she said "Of course, he's Tranny Man!". Turns out the transmission was dying, but Tranny Man figured it would limp home with a bit more fluid, and I could get it replaced later without interrupting my trip. The charge for about half an hour of inspection and advice: NOTHING! If you are anywhere near Brookings and need transmission work, go see Tranny Man.

I dropped in to Joe Espinosa's "Tranny-Man" shop while traveling through Brookings, Oregon with a noisy u-joint on my F250 Ford Pickup with a camper on top. They reeplaced two u-joints and had us out the door in under an hour for $132. Joe spent the last 1/2 hour chatting with my wife and I while the mechanic finished the installation. Great guy, funny, honest, fast and cheap. For a drop-in traveler, winter camping in a series of lashing storms, he was just the best.
