When our Jetta's airbag light came on recently, they quickly investigated and offered a quick, although incomplete, fix. They told us that it might not work but that it might and would be cheaper than the VW suggested fix. When the light came back on they told us what the potential fixes were and suggested a method to pinpoint the problem. Because they reset the computer a couple of times for us (at not cost) we were able to isolate the problem to the cheaper of the possible solutions. We have had not problems since. This isn't the first time that they have stuck with a tricky electrical problem on one of our Jettas without charging us for much of their time (less than they spend). They offer fantastic explanations of the problems they find, too.

Chris is probably the only mechanic I've ever known who will yack on the phone with the costomer until they fully understand what he's trying to explain. If that fails, he'll nab you when you come to pick up your car and then proceed to draw pictures for you. It's both weird and delightful! I found the shop thanks to the folks here at Cartalk.com and we have taken all four of our cars (VW Scirocco, Toyota Avalon, Subaru Outback, Acura Integra) here for various work, tune-ups, oil changes etc, and we're always amazed at how much more we know about the vehicle when we leave... The work is high quality, the prices fair, and the costomer service is dazzling. Thanks Chris! Tomi

This mechanic saved my daughter's life. Her ABS light was on, so we took her 99 Beetle to a local mechanic who did a brake job. When she drove back to school in Columbus, the light was still coming on, so she took it to Performance. While fixing the wiring harness, the mechanic noticed the brake caliper was loose and decided to investigate. He discovered that a nut had been stripped during the brake job and secured with Teflon tape. In a matter of time that would have come loose, and her brakes would have locked up. Patrick, the mechanic who contacted us, was extremely upset that someone let the car go like that and put my daughter's life in danger. He helped us get the matter settled with the local mechanic, who was at first adamant that a car would never leave his shop like that. It turns out that the local mechanic's son, who was home from college, finished up the brake job and didn't want to tell his dad he screwed up. The local mechanic is paying for the repair. I am so thankful to Performance for going the extra mile.
