Dale is extremely experienced and direct. He replaced an alternator belt in two minutes that had previously taken a VW mechanic 3 hours (since all the bolts were rusted)- we have taken all of our vehicles to Dale since then.

Years ago, Dale tried to help me in a phone call from Buffalo area to his shop in Cleveland (Brooklyn area) concerning a problem with an '82 Vanagon that stopped running on the exit an from the NY Throughway near Buffalo. No joy. I couldn't give him enough good info. The Vanagon was towed to a VW dealer in Buffalo and for $800 worth of diagnostic work they couldn't find the problem. It was then towed to Dale's shop using a tow he arranged for me. He cranked it over once and said the cylinders were burned out, probably due to oil starvation. He did the necessary work and I drove it for another 8-9 years. He thought I ought to withhold payment to the VW dealer in Buffalo. I had paid by credit card and tried to, but their argument seemed good to the credit card dispute resolution group and I gave up the fight.\
